Days Like Stages (Mayumi Nashida/Hurricane Bells)
Pet project of singer-songwriter Steve Schiltz and friends, Hurricane Bells produces hazy guitar pop here remixed just right by the unknown Dennis Cahlore. Schiltz’s voice oozes over a swelling brass and string arrangements in a way not dissimilar to Feeder’s Grant Nicholas–and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Cahlore’s production, heavy on the reverb and light on the drums, moves this indie into breezy summer jam territory.
