Catherine Kelleher, the aquiline-nosed lady behind the moniker Catcall, is still alt, guys. She doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page. Time to be an early investor.
More importantly, her debut album, The Warmest Place, is fresh synth-pop that bleeds not a girlish pink but electric blue.
“The World is Ours” is a snippet from the album — a driving tune that slides down like sweet tea on a July day just as easily on the first listen as it does on the tenth. The lyrics can be a bit mindless, but it’s summertime. Save your book-larnin’ for another day. If there was hazy lazy happiness in a song, it’s here.
